La Biennale di Venezia has announced a public programme for 13–22 November 2026, the final days of its 61st International Art Exhibition, In Minor Keys by Koyo Kouoh. The announcement was published on 23 October.
Scheduled at the Arsenale, the programme combines performances and talks with an Assembly of artist-led organisations and collectives. The organisers describe the Assembly as a forum for exchanging practices and discussing learning, research and community. As of this article’s publication, these November events are forthcoming. The official announcement and schedule provide the individual sessions; the exhibition website provides the wider context.
Making discussion part of an exhibition
A programme of this kind raises a practical question for anyone planning an exhibition: what can a conversation do that a display cannot? One useful approach is to give participants a particular decision or working method to examine. A discussion can then reveal how people negotiate resources, responsibilities and the needs of a place, alongside the work that visitors encounter.
For organisers developing smaller exchanges, scale need not determine the quality of the discussion. A focused session can ask each contributor to explain one choice, name a difficulty and respond to another practice. Recording the points of agreement and the questions that remain open may leave participants with something they can use after the event.
