Design competitions and awards

Awards and Programme Development

IADC is exploring support for the development of design competitions and awards, with attention to participant information, clear responsibilities, review processes and the presentation of work.

An area for collaboration

From Purpose to a Clear Process

Proposed services would be defined by the actual organiser, the work commissioned and the resources available. The scope could include the following areas.

Programme Information

Clarify the purpose, categories, eligibility and submission materials, alongside the responsibilities of the organiser and any collaborating parties.

Participant Communication

Organise entry information and practical explanations so participants can understand the requirements, dates, costs and process before deciding whether to take part.

Review Processes

Consider how assessment criteria relate to the submitted material, how decisions are recorded and how conflicts of interest and procedural questions are handled.

Results and Documentation

Plan accurate credits, work descriptions and publication permissions for a clear record of selected work and the process behind the programme.

Concept under development

CIRCUM Design Awards

CIRCUM is a candidate award concept being considered within IADC’s programme development.

The concept explores attention to design processes and their effects, clear assessment criteria, documented review and an accessible archive of work. Its name, organiser, scope, rules and delivery arrangements would require confirmation before a public call.

No edition, entry period, fees or jury appointments are announced here. The concept is not open for entries and does not represent an established awards record.

Before a public call

Information Participants Need

A confirmed award programme should identify the organiser, IADC’s actual role and a verified participation route.

Its published information should explain eligibility, categories, submission materials, dates and time zones, all applicable fees, review arrangements, permissions and the outcomes being offered.
